The slavery is the way in which the salvation is accomplished. Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, the Egyptians are punished, and Israel is delivered in order to display God’s glory to the ends of the earth by proclaiming his “name,” that is to say, by making clear the nature of his character (Ex. 9:16; Rom. 9:17).
